Bikin in Savannah
We were blessed to have a gorgeous day to sightsee in Savannah, GA today. We took a trolley tour around the city and learned about some of the historical facts. Then we ate a huge and totally high caloric meal at Paula Dean's restaurant Lady and Sons. Fortunately we had our bikes and got some good exercise riding back around to some areas we wanted to see again and then down to the river front. The flowers and trees were blossoming.

Shuttle Launch
What a fascinating experience to see the Discovery Shuttle blast off into space. Over 40,000 people went to Titusville near Kennedy Space Center to watch. About 40 of us caravaned together from the bible camp. The bridge that goes over to the space center was crowded with people, but we stayed along the shore. There was only a short delay before we could hear the engines and see the shuttle. Awesome!

We had a great time on the zip line for our first time. Now we would love to do one of the courses that you see around the country. Great Fun!

Flowers and Hoe Downs
We have had a great first week here in Eustis, Fl. Jo Childers spoke with a great lesson for the women. Other lessons have been funny, encouraging, and uplifting. On Valentine's Day, we had a ladies tea and fashion show. It was interesting to see all the hats, especially the one I wore. That was a hoot. I put one of the roses from my Valentine flowers that Rick gave me on my straw hat! No, you won't see a picture of that. Rick had to give an impromptu lesson on health when one of the speakers could not make it. He did a great job of relating taking care of our bodies like we take care of our RVs! We are playing Bocce Ball and Pickle Ball. More on that later!

Happy Valentines Day
We enjoyed our first day of workshop with some excellent speakers and meeting more people. This afternoon we played some outdoor games including Pickle Ball and Bonco Ball. You will have to ask what those are! ha! Happy Valentines Day!

Central Florida Bible Workshop
We have arrived to our new campsite for the next two weeks. Rick is laying out our mat as we settle into our spot. We have a great location as our west window face a wooded area and then a field. It is a beautiful view. Most of the RV camps we have been at were pretty crowded with snowbirds and we were side by side, and at Avon Park we were in church parking lot. So this is a nice change. After exploring historic downtown Mt. Dora and sharing a Cuban sandwich, we enjoyed a wonderful visit with Buddy and Jo Childers. Many memories were shared and news of the past few years was caught up. Today we are going to check out a flea market. The sun is shining so off we go!

New Location
The work at Avon Park was completed. I am sorry not to post a picture of some of the finished work. The fellowship hall looked awesome with its new paneling. Diane Logan and I volunteered to stain and polyurethane the baseboards and chair rails. We had a nice time visiting and staining. We thought we had done such an excellent job but then the next morning some of the boards did not look glossy. The guys accused us of talking too much! Ha! Well, come to find out when we again tried to polyurethane them that the boards were soaking it in. So not our fault! (whew!)
Wednesday evening before services, Larry Roberts, the local minister, and his wife Barbara, had us all for dinner. We took a group picture.
Thursday,we shared a noon meal at a local restaurant and loaded the RV and took off for the Central Florida Bible Camp in Eustis, Fl. We will be here for a couple of weeks. Anxious to see Buddy and Jo Childers!

Miami and Boca Raton
Saturday we took off to visit some great people, Carlos and Maribel Preciado. They live in Boca Raton, but we took off a little early just to drive down to Miami Beach and see what all the hoopla is about! We took our bikes and rode them along the beach but did not get in the water.
By 2:30 we arrived at Carlos and Maribel's house that they had recently purchased and caught up with the last five years! They had adopted GianCarlos and Isabella, two beautiful kids and their family doubled. After driving around the cities to look at where most of their work is done, Maribel had made a traditional Columbian meal and it was delicious. A woman from church had made us Flan and it was melt in your mouth.
We talked until we couldn't keep our eyes open.
Sunday was filled with English and Spanish services and were blessed to witness a baptism of a man who was attending the spanish services.
Back on the road we arrived at our RV in time to watch the big game! Now it is back to work.

Long Weekend
After some painting and organizing the Sojourners have three day weekends to rest and re-create. Friday, Rick and I took our bikes to Highlands Hammock State Park and rode along the trails. It was beautiful with its boggy atmosphere, I felt like we were in some creepy swamps when we walked along the boardwalks over the water. We didn’t see any alligators but we felt them looking at us. Then we joined Tony and Martha Anthony at the Boc Tower and Gardens. The gardens were quite extraordinary and the tower impressive. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to walk through the park. We even picked oranges from the tree. Rick got back in time for a couple games of tennis with Jim Welch and after grilling burgers on our Baby Q we played some spirited card games of hand and foot with Maxine and Jim Shepherd. Of course the girls won ..again. Now we are on our way to Miami to visit Carlos and Maribel Precidio. Looks like it is going to be about 85 degrees.
